SpaceX Starlink Software Engineer Full-time Online Assessment

Role: Starlink Software Engineer
Result: Not disclosed

Report time: 3/28/2024

A recruiter first held a short introductory call and then sent an online assessment. There was no strict requirement to begin within one week, but once started, the assessment had a four-hour limit. The recruiter said most candidates needed about three hours.

The assessment centered on Monster Registry, a Python data-processing exercise built around a CSV monster database. Given a monster name, the program had to produce:

• The monster's ID
• Monsters it was strong against
• Monsters it was weak against
• Every valid evolution path in depth-first order

The package included multiple files and test inputs. The final hiring outcome was not disclosed.
