Interview process
The candidate described three main stages, all technical.
- The first screen began with about ten minutes explaining the company and role, followed by roughly 20 minutes of basic questions about beams and stress plus an open-ended design problem.
- The second round was a faster-paced 30-minute technical interview.
- The onsite began with a 30-minute tour. A one-hour presentation block followed: approximately 35 minutes presenting, 15 minutes of questions, and a ten-minute hiring-team debrief.
- Five 30-minute one-on-one interviews completed the onsite. Two were conducted while walking through the factory and focused on manufacturing. The other three covered structures, design, and more theoretical manufacturing topics.
Reported technical areas
- Cantilever-beam analysis.
- Buckling.
- Design for manufacturing.
- Repeated questions about why familiar structures are shaped the way they are, including why a soda can has its particular geometry.
The candidate described the onsite as both highly stressful and exhilarating. Although the company indicated a response within two weeks, the rejection arrived about four weeks later.
