Scale AI New Grad SWE Card Game Interview

Scale sent them a PDF for a card game before the interview. They picked Python.

Player, Card, and Deck were already given. They had to finish the game logic, run the game with four players, and find the winner. After that, they were asked how they would clean up and speed up the code.

The problem itself wasn’t very hard, but there was a lot to code and not much time. The interviewer caught a few mistakes early, which gave them time to fix them.

The full game rules and scoring weren’t shared. FastPrep has a four-player card game practice problem based on the same setup. It adds fixed rules so the code can be run and tested.
